Curriculum Breakdown

The 6 Classical Pillars of Tajweed

Combining rigorous theoretical rules from Ibn al-Jazari's classical texts with practical, vocal repetition in every lesson.

Module 1

Makharij al-Huroof (The 17 Articulation Points)

Weeks 1 - 3

Deep anatomical exploration of the five major speech organs (Halq/Throat, Lisaan/Tongue, Shafatan/Lips, Jawf/Empty space, Khayshoom/Nasal cavity) and pinpointing the exact origin point of all 28 Arabic letters.

Detailed Study Points:

The 3 Throat letters regions (Bottom, Middle, and Top)
The 10 Tongue articulation points (Deep, Middle, Edges, Tip)
Distinguishing difficult phonemes: Daad (ض), Taa (ط), Qaf (ق), Ayn (ع)
Lip articulation (Baa, Meem, Waw, Faa) & Nasal nasalization
Module 2

Sifat al-Huroof (Characteristics of Letters)

Weeks 4 - 6

Mastering the intrinsic characteristics that give each letter its distinct acoustical beauty and preventing letter distortion during rapid recitation.

Detailed Study Points:

Permanent Sifat with opposites: Hams vs Jahr, Shiddah vs Rakhawah
Isti'la (Heavy/Elevated) vs Istifal (Light/Depressed)
Itbaaq (Enclosure) vs Infitah (Openness)
Sifat without opposites: Qalqalah (Echoing bounce), Safir (Whistling), Leen
Module 3

Rules of Noon Sakinah & Tanween

Weeks 7 - 10

The foundational Tajweed quartet: learning when to pronounce the Noon sound clearly, when to merge it, when to convert it, and when to conceal it with a 2-count nasal Ghunnah.

Detailed Study Points:

Izhar Halqi (Clear pronunciation before throat letters)
Idgham (Merging with & without Ghunnah into YARMALOON letters)
Iqlab (Transforming Noon into hidden Meem before letter Baa)
Ikhfa Haqiqi (Concealment with 2-count Ghunnah before 15 letters)
Module 4

Rules of Meem Sakinah & Heavy/Light Letters

Weeks 11 - 14

Mastering labial articulation rules for Meem and the delicate conditions governing the heavy (Tafkheem) and light (Tarqeeq) pronunciation of Raa and the Laam of Allah.

Detailed Study Points:

Izhar Shafawi (Clear Meem articulation before all letters except Baa & Meem)
Ikhfa Shafawi (Concealing Meem with Ghunnah before Baa)
Idgham Mimi / Mutamathilayn (Merging identical Meems)
Rules of Raa (8 rules of Tafkheem, 4 of Tarqeeq, and optional cases)
Rules of the Name of Allah (Laam Jalalah) after Fatha, Damma & Kasra
Module 5

Rules of Madd (Prolongation & Counts)

Weeks 15 - 18

Understanding exact count timing (2, 4, 5, and 6 Harakat) to ensure your recitation never exceeds or clips proper prolongation.

Detailed Study Points:

Madd Asli / Tabee'i (Natural 2-count elongation with Alif, Waw, Yaa)
Madd Muttasil (Connected obligatory Madd - 4 to 5 counts)
Madd Munfasil (Separated permissible Madd - 4 to 5 counts)
Madd Lazim (Compulsory 6-count elongation due to original Sukoon/Shaddah)
Madd Arid lis-Sukoon (Temporary pause prolongation - 2, 4, or 6 counts)
Module 6

Rules of Waqf (Stopping, Pausing & Resuming)

Weeks 19 - 22+

Learning where it is permissible, obligatory, or prohibited to pause during recitation to safeguard the divine theological meanings of the Quranic text.

Detailed Study Points:

Waqf signs in the Mushaf (Meem, La, Jeem, Qaf-Lam, Sad-Lam)
Types of stops: Waqf Taam (Complete), Kaafi (Sufficient), Hasan (Good), Qabeeh (Reprehensible)
Handling the last letter of a word when stopping (Rawm & Ishmam basics)
Breath management, pacing rhythm, and melodious Tarteel delivery
